Control Tower Operator - Amarillo, TX
Ensure the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic by issuing standard control instructions and terminology to pilots through proper utilization of radio transceiver, radar and other various types of electronic equipment in accordance with government and company regulations.
Interact via radio with Bell aircraft on the ramp and inflight to ensure clearance and position monitoring and notify the crew of any ground personnel or vehicles or other visible issues with the aircraft.
Act as a security monitor to determine aircraft occupancy and notify security of suspicious activity.
Establish and maintain coordination with FAA and civil control towers and personnel.
Work with BHT engineering during experimental flight test operations to monitor the flight test.
Conduct radio and radar interface evaluations of test aircraft.
Advise flight test operations and crews of severe weather issues which requires an understanding and working knowledge of aviation meteorology.
Attend Pilot Safety Meetings and discuss tower controller issues.
Formal training as an air traffic controller from the FAA or US military equivalent.
Minimum of three years’ experience as Control Tower Operator.
FAA Air Traffic Control Tower certificate or US Military equivalent rating.
Must possess and be able to maintain a current FAA Class II medical certificate.
Knowledge of meteorology, familiar with ATC, NOTAMS and weather radar systems, familiar with UHF, VHF, FM and HF radio systems.
Must be able to traverse numerous flights of stairs on a daily basis in all weather conditions.
Extensive experience working with helicopter and tilt-rotor operations.
