POSITION DETAILS

This position is part of Product Development and Engineering(PD&E) and reports to the Model Shop Supervisor. The main role of thisposition is to work hand-in-hand with designers and engineers to create ormodify prototype parts and fixtures to support all product developmentactivities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to read blueprints

  • Set-up and perform all machining operationsrequired to produce the part

  • Inspect the final product to ensure it fallswithin specification

  • Machine components or prototypes withinspecified tolerance requirements

  • Design and construct fixtures as required

  • Perform bench work with hand tools as necessary

  • Maintain equipment to manufacturer’sspecifications or accepted professional standards

Qualifications

CAPABILITYREQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work directly with engineering toproduce the best part in the most efficient fashion

  • Ability to work from written or verbalinstructions

  • Ability to proficiently and safely operate allequipment commonly available in tool room

  • Proficient in bench work including: drilling,tapping, assembly, and inspection of components for form, fit, and function

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in basic computer systems

  • High self motivation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fabrication/Sheet metal experience

  • Welding experience

  • Machining experience

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Enrollment in Technical certificates orAssociate's program related to the position at Augusta Tech or Aiken Tech
