Engineering Apprentice- Mechanic

This position will offer education in troubleshooting, repairing and building prototype vehicles to support all Product Development activities.


  • Learning to troubleshoot and diagnose vehicles

  • Offer innovative input to Engineering staff to help meet overall program goals

  • Ability to work from written or verbal instructions

  • Organize and maintain clean working areas



  • Have a strong mechanical background

  • Diagnostic skills

  • Proficient with hand and power tools

  • Exposure to reading and comprehending prints and drawings

  • Inspect the final product to ensure it is within specification and safe for operation

  • The ideal candidate will have exposure to one or more of the following:

  • Use of a Multi-meter (volt-ohm meter) for electrical troubleshooting

  • Small engine rebuild and repair

  • Performance of preventative maintenance (fuel systems, engines, brakes, suspensions, electrical)


  • Proficiently and safely operate hand tools and power tools (electric and pneumatic)

  • Maintain equipment to manufacturer’s specifications or accepted professional standards

  • Ability to complete highly mechanical work based on written direction from engineering staff


  • High school graduate or GED

  • Enrollment in Automotive Technology at Augusta Tech or Aiken Tech

  • Basic computer skills in Windows OS and Microsoft Office


  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • Able to work on their feet up to 90% of the work day

  • Ability to utilize normal mechanics hand tools


Clean driving record and drivers’ licenses
