Summary

Responsible for the operational performance of theFabrication department, including, but not limited to Safety, Quality,Delivery, Cost, Training, and Employee Welfare/Morale

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assure departmental compliance with all establishedpolicies

  • Direct daily departmental activities

  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace

  • Identify training needs and facilitate departmentalemployee training process

  • Meet all departmental goals and develop correctiveactions when goals are not met

  • Establish and maintain positive employee relationships

  • Communicate with other Operations Leaders and Managers

  • Troubleshoot issues and develop corrective actions

  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with team and othernecessary parties

  • Facilitate departmental Continuous Improvementinitiative

  • Report Daily, Weekly and Monthly performance against establishedgoals and metrics

  • Other duties as assigned

WorkplaceOrganization

  • Assist Operationsleader and team members with developing standards for workplace organization

  • Audithousekeeping in assigned workstations daily and weekly

  • Leaddaily kick-off meetings, reviewing SQDC

  • Lead CIand 5S initiative

  • Makestandards visual


  • Quality

  • Know the qualitystandards associated with and related to the team’s processes

  • Ensurethat each team member is educated on quality standards

  • Makequality standards visual to team

  • Measureand document quality standards within team

  • Initiate process improvements based upon quality trend data

  • UpdateSQDC boards

  • Validate that team members are utilizing standardized work

  • Ifdefects are found, complete the line side reviews with the team members andsupervise them for recurrence prevention

Absenteeism

  • Allocate manpower according to situation / skill level

  • Performrole of team member in case of absenteeism

  • Performrole of team leader if any team situation requires

  • Perform role ofgroup leader if situation requires

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide

  • Ability to perform fundamental calculations using percentages, ratios andfractions

  • Ability to communicate effectively to subordinatesand upper management

  • Ability to document in written form ideas,technical data, calculations, conclusions and other necessary information

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft: Office,Excel, PowerPoint

  • High school diploma and three to five years relatedexperience and/or training

  • Experience with and a fundamental understandingof LEAN manufacturing philosophy

  • Technical knowledge of CNC machining, welding, blueprints,lasers, benders or painting preferred

LANGUAGESKILLS

  • Ability to read andinterpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to write reports andcorrespondences

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers oremployees of organizations
