PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Performs engineering work in planning, design and execution of the electrical designs for new and existing hardware products, tools, software products or applications within HD Electric’s range of high voltage test and measurement equipment.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to an Engineering Lead or Director of Engineering. In addition, the candidate must work closely with product managers, other engineers, designers, drafters, manufacturing representatives and vendors in development and application. Position requires the ability to interface with engineering as well as all other departments, vendors, and customers and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

HUMAN RELATIONS:

This position must display professionalism and enthusiasm in representing Textron. Must have the interpersonal skills to work effectively with Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Engineering and other departments within the company along with distributors and end-users.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and performs engineering research, design development, and manufacturing engineering assignments involving new and/or existing HD Electric products or components.

  • Carries out engineering assignments associated with research, design, development, sourcing and manufacture of parts and components associated with the engineering project.

  • Schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications.

  • Coordinates designers, technicians and drafters assigned to projects.

  • Evaluates progress and results and may recommend changes in procedure.

  • May have limited latitude for unreviewed action or decision relative to the project.

  • Performs all duties within the Textron Business Guidelines.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related discipline is required.

  • The position requires the ability to perform circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout.

  • The position requires the ability to create, test and maintain embedded firmware (C, C , Assembly).

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • This position requires 0-5 years of related electrical engineering experience.

  • Excellent partnering and team building skills.

  • Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.

  • Candidates should be comfortable with basic test equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, signal generators.

  • Experience with high voltage or power systems is a plus.

  • Experience with EMC design and testing is a plus.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Performs technical and complex task requiring independent knowledge and its application to non-routine situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position may exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally with assistance, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently as well as the use of arm and/or leg controls with exertion greater than that of sedentary work. May also push, pull, lift, carry, grasp, finger or otherwise move objects.
