Textron Airborne Solutions provides training opportunities for military customers. The Safety Manager at ACE is a pilot position that oversees all flight safety related activities to include Alliance Fort Worth and all regional operations under the purview of ACE. Required to report directly to the Vice President of ATAC ACE for all operational activities and the ATAC Director of Safety, for all company-wide flight safety requirements. The Safety Manager is required to coordinate with regional Directors of Operations, Chief Pilots, and the Director of Maintenance as well as liaise with the ACE Ground Safety Manager regarding all flight related activities.
The ACE Safety Manager (SM) will report to the Vice President of ATAC ACE and the ATAC Company Director of Safety (DOS), coordinate with all ACE regional Directors of Operations (DO), the ACE Director of Maintenance (DOM), and the ACE Chief Pilot (CP) for all flight safety related activities in support of customer requirements in Alliance Fort Worth and in the DO’s designated Area of Responsibility (AOR). The SM will ensure adequate flight safety programs and training are available in support of all flight related activities. The SM will interface with functional leaders at headquarters.
Required to be an operationally active pilot within ATAC ACE
Responsible to oversee all aviation safety related activities under the purview of ACE
Ensure Adherence to safety requirements as directed by the Vice President, the DOS and in accordance with all ATAC policies and procedures and report any issues to the Vice President, DOS, DO’s, and Chief Pilots.
Liaise with the ACE Ground Safety Manager (GSM) and Regional Site Safety representative as required
Liaise with all Host Base Safety POC’s as required
Coordinate with the Training Officer, Standardization/Evaluation Officer, Scheduling Officer, the Chief Pilots, and all DO’s
Responsible for assisting in all pilot training within AOR
Coordinate, QA and submit all safety related data required by the DOS and Vice President
Review After Action reports for each detachment and provide recommendations to the Vice President of ACE as required
Liaison with additional contract SM’s, DFO’s and Chief Pilots for oversight of all revisions and changes to company safety related policy and procedures (FOM’s, related GOP’s, aircraft Flight Manuals and Pilot Checklists)
Responsible for assisting in the management of the company safety program including the Safety Management System (SMS) and Operational Risk Management program
Conduct Flight-related safety and mishap investigations. Provide detailed reports that identify causal factors and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence. Track recommendations and provide support as necessary throughout resolution.
Oversee the ACE Mishap Response plan and coordinate with additional contract response plans
Assist in implementing, managing, and updating the ATAC SMS as required
Assist in the process, resolve, and communication of safety reports
Contribute to the ATAC Safety Council on ACE specific flight related safety issues.
Participate in safety audits and provide corrective action assistance to management.
Conduct risk assessments as required by the audit schedule.
Provide new hire and annual recurrent flight safety training for pilots
Provide assistance to GSM with monthly maintenance safety training
Formal Military Aviation Safety Training / Experience managing a Safety Program
Minimum of 5 years Military Aviation Safety experience
10 years of prior Military Fighter Experience
Previous Supervisory/Management experience
BS/BA Degree required
Command experience desired
Demonstrated experience or has had training in the following:
Safety Management Systems
Human factors and the decision-making process
Emergency response planning
Must maintain a security clearance
Proficiency in Word and Excel
Clear written and verbal communications
Ability to Organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner
Excellent time management skills
Excellent attention to detail
Work well in a team environment
