Propulsion Analysis Engineer – V-22 Program

The Propulsion Analysis Engineer is responsible for the technical oversight of the power production units installed in the V-22 airframe, including primary engine and APU integration. This Bell Helicopter Engineering position is based at the company’s Ft. Worth, TX headquarters facility.

This position provides support to the fielded fleet through interaction with NAVAIR PMA 275 and FST as well as supporting component manufacture, assembly, and delivery to fleets spares and Amarillo Production. Timely resolution of issues affecting delivery of aircraft is a top priority.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and augmentation of engine Power Available projections and software algorithms

  • Execution of engine thermodynamic cycle decks, and production of engine Power Available datasets that inform overall ship performance assessments and NATOPS Flight Charts

  • Execution of analysis tasks relating to Propulsion Accessories and Sub-Systems, including Cooling, Bleed Air, and Fire Protection

  • Supporting V-22 Propulsion-related Tunnel and Flight Test Activities thru Test Planning, Instrumentation and data collection, and test data post-processing and interpretation

  • Providing Amarillo V-22 production support for Propulsion component issues as-needed to ensure timely aircraft delivery

  • Supporting on-going Fleet and Production engine issues, requiring coordination with Technical Competency Leads, as well as FST and NAVAIR technical leadership.

  • Managing ECP content in the area of Propulsion/Powerplant funded by the customer for the purposes of reducing recurring cost, improving reliability and maintainability and increasing the mission ready status of the fielded fleet. This responsibility involves working with other Engineering IPTs, Procurement, Contracts, Pricing, Logistics and Operations groups to plan, estimate, propose and execute a variety of small and large air vehicle upgrade projects.

  • Providing specific supplier coordination and oversight for the V-22 engine and APU, including issue resolution, development and qualification, and periodic tech data review and approval, for New Production as well as Spares Deliveries

Qualifications

Education Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering – or similar discipline – is required.

Position Requirements:

- Technical experience in turboshaft aircraft power production and extraction, engine intake/particle separation systems, and engine exhaust/IR suppression systems

- Familiarity with V-22 propulsion and aircraft systems is preferred, and installed engine and APU power, Power Available, and NATOPs Performance Charts is preferred.

- Familiarity with Power Assurance/Engine Performance algorithms and thermodynamic engine cycle models is preferred.

- Strong communications skills, with the capability to deal with senior level technical and program leadership, is required.
