Propulsion Integration Analysis Engineer

Propulsion Systems Integration Analysis Engineering opportunities are available on Bell Helicopter's V-280 Program. This position may be located at Bell Helicopter’s headquarters facility in Ft. Worth, TX or the Bell Flight Research Center in Arlington, TX. The Propulsion Integration Analysis Engineer is responsible for propulsion system analysis and evaluating the propulsion system component performance required to meet program and customer defined requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Engine installation and integration

  • Installed engine performance using thermodynamic cycle models and coordination with other teams such as flight technologies

  • Engine inlet and exhaust designs and analysis as well as their impacts on air vehicle performance across the required flight conditions.

  • Propulsion sub-system component and air vehicle level thermal analyses to meet systems level requirements.

  • Bleed air and low pressure pneumatic system performance analysis

  • Avionics cooling and oil cooling analysis

  • Work closely with IPTs to review evolving designs and provide input into design configuration decisions.

  • Perform system level and aircraft level analysis to validate performance requirements.

  • Working with Avionics and Engine Suppliers to develop effective on-wing Engine Power Available assessment algorithms

  • Support of engine and propulsion system flight test activities

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree is required.Major in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics will be considered.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience at all levels will be considered with a minimum of 3 years experiences specific to propulsion systems analysis.

  • Experience with Installed Turbine Engine performance predictions using Thermodynamic Cycle Decks; desired: familiarity with NPSS

  • Experience with engine inlet and exhaust designs and support analysis.

  • Desired: familiarity with CFD analyses on turbo-machinery using FLUENT, or equivalent.

  • Desired: familiarity with thermal analysis using SINDA, or equivalent.

  • Desired: familiarity with system level analysis using AMESIM, or equivalent.

  • Must have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively to coordinate and lead activities, prioritize tasks, and report status.

  • Must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams.

  • Familiarity with aerospace design and verification processes to include; requirements development and verification, preliminary and detailed design, MRP, Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement and Maintenance processes is preferred.

  • PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.

  • Must have the ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
