Opportunity

Textron Ground Support Equipment UK Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Vehicle Technician which will be based in Cheltenham in the United Kingdom. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position will be responsible for themechanical assembly of specialist ground support equipment (GSE) for the aviation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble original/refurbished specialist ground support vehicles and equipment, complete to customer’s specification as outlined in the Customers Order.

  • Work must be of a very high standard and quality in accordance with ISO 9001 ensuring vehicle reliability and appearance is maximised.

  • Ensure process control documentation (VQD) has been signed off and completed in the correct manner.

  • Support Production Supervisors, as required.

  • Provide technical support to those Employees who have limited knowledge.

  • Ability to work independently as well as contributing to a successful team and accept ownership of the vehicle throughout the assembly process.

  • Comply with all relevant Health, Safety and Environment regulations and exercise a Duty of Care promoting a positive approach towards workplace health and safety.

  • Flexible attitude towards working on a variety of products.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, C&G 1-2, NVQ L3 or equivalent to one of these qualifications or a minimum of three years’ experience within a manufacturing environment or a proven engineering background with fitting experience.

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Competence in working accurately to schematic diagrams

  • Experienced in Ground Support Equipment and solid multi-skill set including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control systems would be desirable.

Desired Personal Characteristics

  • You must have your own personal tool kit, and be happy working in a busy workshop environment with the flexibility to meet changing priorities.

  • Willingness to travel with the business to Europe or Overseas for occasional service requirements

  • Demonstrate a positive working attitude to ensure that deadlines are met.

  • It would be expected that Mechanical Fitter would be multi-skilled and demonstrate the necessary flexibility to work additional hours as when required in order to achieve the required delivery

Compensation

£11.50 - £12.00 per hour depending on experience.

In addition to this you will receive 25 days holiday, Pension Scheme. Life Assurance of 4 X Pensionable salary if you contribute to the pension scheme.
