Opportunity

Textron Ground Support Equipment UK Ltd is seeking an Aftermarket Service Support Engineer which will be based in Cheltenham in the United Kingdom. Reporting to the Aftermarket Director, this position will be responsible for maintaining a level of customer satisfaction in the delivery of a support service to our customers which exceeds their expectations in professionalism, solution provision, and turnaround. The Aftermarket Service Support Engineer will also assist the Aftermarket Sales and Service Department in a wide variety of activities including spare parts product support for our national and international customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Have technical knowledge to assist customers and service technicians as needed, and have access to reference materials to ensure appropriate completion of all work.

  • Directly responsible for the execution of warranty claims from beginning to end.

  • Responsible for prompt distribution of parts to customers and field technicians.

  • Provide consultative sales and technical support to customers.

  • Build customer relationships in a professional manner through solution-oriented communication, service, and telephone support.

  • Coordinate a prompt, efficient, and timely flow of paperwork.

  • Seek out new parts business.

  • Identify and quote accurate parts and services to customers in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate with the finance department to ensure timely invoicing to customers.

  • Occasional customer visits may be required.

  • Control shipping of parts including carriage cost and contractor negotiations.

  • Maintain accurate office records ensuring archive materials are accessible.

  • Review stock levels to ensure availability and reduce obsolescence.

  • Follow up on quotations not converted to orders ensuring timely booking of orders.

  • Participate in positive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent

  • Technical experience in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Parts background and exporting knowledge would be advantage.

  • Willingness to travel 30% of the time, national and international.

Desired Personal Characteristics

  • Appropriate level of customer service skills as well as the ability to respond quickly to service/parts calls in a pressurised environment.

  • Thorough understanding of systems troubleshooting and the benefits of establishing solid service practices for the company and the customer.

  • General knowledge of control schematics, PLC’s and monitoring devices.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Must be a motivated and fast paced personality with a serious work ethic.

  • Ability to work effectively with little or no supervision.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Must be a sales person at heart

Compensation

£28,000 - £33,000 per annum

In addition to this you will receive 25 days holiday, Pension Scheme, Life Assurance of 4 X Pensionable salary if you contribute to the pension scheme.
