The Unmanned Systems Engineering Team at Textron Systems is seeking a technical leader that will advance our automation and control systems engineering skills and capabilities. The successful candidate will be eager to investigate, design, and integrate new and advanced control system applications into our family of Unmanned Air Vehicles and Surface Vessels.

A successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of theories, concepts, and processes relating to the application of control theory in semi and fully autonomous vehicles, with focus on system design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight in Systems Engineering, concentrating on control theory application.

  • Develop imaginative, thorough, practicable technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems related to advanced unmanned system product development.

  • Create concepts of operation and system architecture for unmanned systems for existing or novel commercial, industrial, or military mission requirements.

  • Design systems to apply autonomous and remotely-piloted capabilities within existing operation regulations, communication standards, and target environments.

  • Provide concept development as part of internal cross-functional design teams, including prototyping and production support.

  • Document new technologies and products through well prepared engineering artifacts, including functional and physical system block diagrams, drawings, specifications, interface control documents, design presentations, system test plans, and test reports.

  • Provide internal courses of instruction on control theory to engineers across all disciplines.

  • Coordinate with project engineering and program management on requirements management, budget / schedule generation, and project tracking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering or related technical discipline, Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Eight or more years of control system design experience.

  • Effective technical writing and presentation skills.

  • Active Secret Clearance preferred; Secret Clearance eligibility required.

Toolset

  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).

  • Simulation and modeling via MATLAB required.

  • Model based systems engineering (MagicDraw) preferred.
