Job Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Subcontracts, the Supplier Development Engineer will provide technical leadership in developing, maintaining, improving, and fixing suppliers.

Responsibilities to Include:

  • Participate and influence source evaluation and selection

  • Lead root cause and corrective action activities to resolve technical and schedule supply issues

  • Lead technical interchange meetings and production readiness assessments at suppliers

  • Conduct production readiness reviews with tier one suppliers and appropriate sub-tier suppliers

  • Complete Manufacturing Readiness Level evaluations

  • Lead the development of Transition to Production teams

  • Work with suppliers to develop and continuously improve processes with particular emphasis on quality, delivery, and cost

  • Perform supplier risk and capacity assessments and develop mitigation strategies and plans

  • Implement and perform statistical analysis techniques at suppliers – including SPC and Process Capability

  • Interface with internal customers (design engineering, procurement, manufacturing, etc.) to align priorities

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • 6 years experience in an engineering discipline or product development. Bachelors degree in Engineering — Mechanical or Materials focus preferred

  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively, including internationally 75%

  • Bias for action and quickly resolving difficult problems

  • Able to creatively achieve mission objectives while maintain compliance and the highest standards of quality

  • Proven Lean / Six Sigma skills. Green and or Black Belt certification preferred.

  • Able to work autonomously, with limited direction

  • Excellent computer skills, especially with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, Excel)

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills
