SUMMARY:

The individual in this position will be responsible for providing day-to-day work assignment direction for a specified group of employees under the authority of the area supervisor. This individual may be required to perform the same work as the employees in that group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Allocates work at the direction of the area supervisor.

  • Instructs, corrects and trains employees in the proper use of equipment and performance of their work.

  • Tests machine operations, set up or on other equipment.

  • Plans, schedules and coordinates the effort of the group.

  • Provides necessary assistance to turn out a superior product encouraging employees to do their best.

  • Reports poor quality and other matters detrimental to good operations to the supervisor.

  • Corrects or reports unsafe work conditions or practices.

  • Provide advice to Engineering and Service & Warranty on assembly methods, times, difficulties and techniques.

  • Works with area supervisor and Engineering in field test and engineering prototype builds.

  • Work with inventory control on accuracy of bill of materials and material delivery timing.

  • May perform other task assignments, as may be directed, associated with the general items noted above.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.

  • Familiarity of work area and employee groups assigned to.

  • Familiarity with proper safety/first aid policies and procedures.

  • Ability to properly use tools, instruments or other equipment necessary in work area assigned to; and be able to instruct group employees in the use of such equipment.

  • Knowledge of product and assembly techniques.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Experience working in manufacturing setting preferred.
