Instructs Afghan Air Force (AAF) maintainers on Cessna Caravan aircraft maintenance tasks in accordance with and within the limitations of the FAA and the aircraft manufacturer. Develops instructional material, presentations, plans, lessons, handouts, practical assessments and written examinations to support instructional programs. Instructor shall possess the ability to work independently, without technical guidance, to perform tasks included in the Cessna aircraft maintenance manual. Instructor shall have a sufficient educational and experience background to perform the duties involving maintenance, assembly, operation, repair, test, and related functions of the Cessna aircraft. Instructor shall have the capability to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel and express thoughts in both oral and written communication. Instructor will instruct AAF maintenance technicians in a classroom environment as well as through a structured on-the-job training (OJT) program. Be able to assess and evaluate initial student technical levels and clearly communicate information to enable students to meet contractual technical proficiency. Instructs assigned topics in accordance with approved curriculum effectively utilizing all allotted time, maintains proficiency in instructional techniques, incorporates current examples in the teaching process (OJT), develops and maintains classroom techniques that reflect professionalism, good discipline and enhance teaching. The Training Instructor employs a variety of teaching techniques in order to maintain high motivation and interest in the subject areas, administers grades, records and critiques examinations; prepares and administers remedial assignments, submits written recommendations for curriculum updates to ensure consistency with changes and innovations in latest applicable publications or documents and reports directly to the Maintenance Training Manager on a day to day basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide instruction, assistance, and on-the-job training in removing and installing components

  • Provide instruction, assistance, and on-the-job training in handling equipment, special tools, and test equipment

  • Provides interpretation of technical data set forth in OEM maintenance manuals

  • Maintain training records for each individual student to include accounting reports, attendance, evaluations, certificates, etc...

  • Delivers instruction on a range of maintenance tasks involving mechanical , electrical, engine, structural or avionics systems utilizing an interpreter/translator

  • Develops instructional systems and material

  • Interfaces directly with military customers regarding AAF student performance, aptitude and progress

  • Provides guidance and mentorship to AAF students.

  • Provide maintenance support as needed by the program to support aircraft operations.

  • Able to work any assigned shift or schedule, including mission support outside normal duty hours and travel as required to support mission requirements.

  • Incumbent performs other job-related tasks as assigned and required; any duties/tasks included in the employee's performance evaluation elements are essential to that employee's position within the job classification.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following skills and abilities are required:

  • Hold a valid Airframe & Powerplant License (A&P) certificate issued by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with 5 years experience in aviation maintenance.(preferred)

  • Five or more years of experience in maintenance instruction

  • FAA Inspection Authorization preferred.

  • Working experience on the Cessna 208 or similar aircraft (preferred)

  • Experience working in a military environment (preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience in the type of maintenance support required for the customers designated aircraft inventory.

  • Ability to determine work methods to accomplish assignments.

  • Must be able to pass a background investigation.

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.

  • Must possess a US Passport with the ability to obtain a Work Visa for Afghanistan.

  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing.

  • Position Contingent on Contract Award.

  • Ability to work a 72 hour work week.
