2018 Associate Test Engineer


Job Summary:

Responsible for writing test plans, developing necessary test configurations, executing, and documenting engine and component testing across any of the several Lycoming engine systems including legacy, electronically controlled, and new model engines. Assures technical work is done according to defined processes and assures that work products conform to established standards. Responsible for being a technical resource to other groups within Engineering as well as for cross-functional departments such as ATC, Production Test, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Support, Tech Pubs, and Quality.

Responsibilities to Include :

  • Perform a variety of engineering test assignments related to new product development and/or enhancement of existing products.

  • Responsible for the development & execution of test plans, test setup, data analysis, and test reports.

  • Consult with suppliers/customers on test plans and results.

  • Contribute to development and on-time execution of program schedules.

  • Provide status reports of test activity progress to various stakeholders

  • Review and evaluate results/conclusions of engine and component test.

  • Peer review test reports with a focus on data accuracy, proper documentation, and appropriate conclusions

  • Execute test efforts necessary to achieve strategic business objective(s).

  • Coordinate activities with Engineering Test Manager, Program Managers, ATC Manager/Supervisor, and Production Test supervisor as required to ensure common business and development goals will be achieved.



  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline with work experience

  • Master's Degree in an Engineering Discipline with work experience desirable

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledge of piston engine/aviation piston engine operation

  • Knowledge of engine dynamometer operations

  • Background in automated data collection and analysis tools

  • Ability to work second or third shift as required

  • 0-2 years of previous related experience

  • MS Office Suite Proficient (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • MATLAB proficient desirable

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Ability and willingness to work alternate shifts as necessary.

  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% as necessary.

  • Ability to support flight testing as necessary.

  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies desirable.
